Default Any tips for getting shackle out greatly appreciated

In the process of dropping the rear 7". Rust has just been a real nightmare.

The shackle bolt was (is) completely seized inside the metal bushing. I had to cut the shackle in half to get the leaf spring out.

I was able to cut the outermost part of the bolt but the inner part is giving me a lot of trouble due to the curvature of rear hanger where the bolt goes through. I went through 5 Milwaukee Torch blades and was using a liberal amont of CRC cutting oil. And the space is too tight for me to get my angle grinder (cut off wheel) in there. Thanks!

Damn sounds like a nightmare.

There isn't a lot of room like you said, so you might have to pull the bed off.

I would pull the bed, soak it down with PB Blaster, and take some heat to it. Maybe slap it around a little bit with a BFH to knock the junk loose.

Heat and an air hammer with a punch bit?

Pretty much how I got mine out when it was seized.

Well got the passenger side out.

A 12" Torch blade this time 10 TPI (versus 18) did it in. I think I found out why its such a pain. On the inside part I have to cut through the metal sleeve AND the bolt. The outer part is just the bolt. I was able to cut through it on the drivers side in literally 2-3 minutes. That metal sleeve seems to be hard as crap.

Big Red Wrench (torch) is what I use. Then get new bolts.

Torch is my last option....I'd inevitably be heating the hanger way up as well.

I came up with a better idea today. I took the guard off my angle grinder and I'm putting a 6" cutting disk on it. That should get me the extra length I need to get a straight on cut to the inner edge of the bolt/sleeve.

Got the bastards. What a freaking job it was to get all that rusted up junk off.

Got the flip kit on. Amazing it took me less than 1 hour to do the actual flip, yet days (working after work at night) to get the old hardware off.

I bought the Autozone/O'reily's drop shackles because I couldn't come across any stock shackles for cheap. So I was planning just to put them in the 2nd hole for a 1" additional drop. The box says 1" or 2" drop, yet I can get the leaf spring eye to fit in the shackle for the 2nd hole?? So I had to put them in the top hole. Looks like it's gonna be an 8" drop out rear now! I have no clue if my Corsa exhaust is going to fit or not...I'd really hate to lose those dual tips though.
