Angry Another one bites the dust!

My transmission just went out again today. This is my 4 transmission in 2 years and I just had this one built on January 4 2010 and today it almost 6 months old. It is under warranty but it will be at his call as to what he wants to do about it. I will find out tomorrow after noon.

Any ways what it is doing is when I left the red light I got on it but not that much and it was like it wanted to stay in 2 gear and not come out of it. Trans temp jumped to well over 250* in about 2 miles. Pulled over and check the dip stick and it was full, but it is brown and burnt smelling. I think that it is time to look into the 80E, but funds will not allow that at this time.

You need to put a BUILT trans in there, strart driving NORMAL, not like you just hot wired it off the car lot..

For once, I agree w/. John, get a built trans. For all that, u coulda a FLT.

Talk to Vince & get either a beefy 60 series or a 80E & call it done. They'll work w/. you if buy Vince some Beck's.

that sucks man!

you don't need an 80 though, a well built 60 will work for you

I think running 3.73 gears and 35" tires is what is putting to much strain on your trannies.A gear swap would help you a lot.

I never got a chance to mention earlier, cause I thought I was gonna have to go. Anyway, those big tires & truck weight aren't doin u any favors towards tranny longevity. Cause RJ, a truck that runs almost 16's isn't puttin any pressure on tranny.

Yeah you need gears. I was going through the same thing with 35s on 3.73s. It puts premature wear on the transmission.

For u lifted guys w/. big tires, how are u gettin around that then? A swap to 4.10s or do u go the other way w/. it? Cause it takes power to move off the line, normally that's higher numerically.
