Default another happy customer after getting drive-line clunk fixed

I posted several times about this, and got every idea possible before I took the plunge.

Carl Black GMC in Kennesaw, GA just put in a new nickel plated slip yoke and new u-joints and she's all fixed. It was $500 well spent. I was ready to drop that thing off at a Ford dealership!

So...if you have this problem of driveline clunking or sqawking, don't suffer through it, if you can't ignore it, take it to the dealership NOW!

I wouldn't call it a fix to end all, i've had the exact same work done under warranty years ago, new nickel plated yoke for my 1 piece aluminum driveshaft and new u-joints and well it didn't do ****, the free play in the rear was a bit off and i corrected that which helped some, but most of the noise that i'm getting as well others is from slop in the transfer case.

mine is 4wd w/ 1 piece drive shaft. So far...and its not been many miles, but it is tight as a drum and quiet as new.

I've been battling this for 30k miles. I'd pull the shaft and grease it with every known exotic and mineral grease. The squawking would go away for 6 weeks, and the clunk would better better, but not gone, then get worse.

At least at the moment I cannot make it squawk or clunk no matter what I do, and I knew exactly how to make it do it.

That's just me, and that's just my preliminary judgement. I've read where plenty of guys have this problem and it comes back even after the work I've had done.

Maybe, just maybe enough guys will take their trucks/suvs in and it will become recall status and not just a service bulletin.
