Default Added a 40k GVWR trans cooler

4L80E likes to run hot....I regularly see temps between 210 and 220, occasionally starts to reach towards 230, and that's just tooling around in stop and go traffic without having the truck loaded up or towing. Hopefully this will do more than the cooler I had on it before. I haven't hooked it up yet, waiting on the new trans so I don't contaminate this cooler with any crap that may be in the old trans.

Before (20 -24k I think)

After (40k)

I switched to the same cooler and now it goes to 200 max at track and stop and go. Used to be the same as yours.

Holy cow. That is a big cooler. Not to change the subject. What happened to the old transmission this time?

That's good to hear...I really don't like seeing my trans temps top 200.

1st gear started whining really bad...builder thinks it's a bad bearing or something. Nice problem to have on a 4 month old trans with less than 3000 miles huh?

Thanks, me too!

One thing I noticed about the old one too...I used to have a fan on it, and I could barely feel any airflow through the thing even with the fan on it. I think the design of the old cooler pushed most of the air around it rather than through it. The new one is designed just like a radiator and I can already tell that it should get a TON more air flowing through it on top of being significantly larger.

It's a Tru-Cool Max 4739. I got it from dieselsite.com...it's the only place I could find that had something this big. I'm sure there are others too.

My setup is different, I replaced all the stock lines. Search button is your friend here...this has been covered many times.
