Default ? about gears

I have a 05 5.3l and a friend with a 04 Avalanche......He wants gas mileage and I want performance can I swap the two both rears appear to be the same. A local tranny guy said the swap will cost about 700 with seals, etc.. I have 56k and the Av has 80k..........Should I do it????????

if your not buying gears thats way to high...i paid $550 for gears, install kit and labor

Yeah it should be like $400 for labor only. That s about what we would charge.

wait he wants $700 to swap both of y'alls rear ends out of your trucks?

Taking a differential out of a silverado is stupid easy and an avalanche isn't much worse assuming you have the rear coil spring setup.

I would just do it yourself
