Me and my buddy are putting in a 99 5.3 that showed up today, in his 97 rcsb obs silverado 4x4 that has the 5.7 in it(blown up motor). I believe its the older style 4l60e thats in the truck because it looks different than the one in my 2001. I talked to a guy at s & p because they did a similar swap. He thinks we have the old 4l60e that won't work with this motor. On there write up about the swap they say its a 96 tahoe with a tranny that looks like ours and just needs the flex plate spacer to match up. When I talked to s & p on the phone today they told me the tahoe was a 98 and is the newer tranny??? So what do we do? their write up says its a 96 tahoe and the guy on the phone says its a 98. Not sure what we need to do? will a 97 tranny work with a 99 5.3 engine? We could use all the info we can get.
