ok as you all notice i have started quite a few trans temp threads and this is probably the last one...so while i was driving down the highway, locked up at 2200rpms and 75mph my trans temp was chillin right at 170* or maybe 173* or something. baking sun and 92* outside is this an alright temp? im still looking for that little chart with temps and what happens at those temps liek when gaskets start to break down and whatnot. im trying to keep my temperature in its happy place for as long as possible that way when the cam goes in, line pressure falls, and shift kit goes in hopefully the trans will hold up still as long as im nice to it

i have an aftermarket temp gauge, came with the perma cool system. its taking the temperature before the aftermarket 23000GVW perma cool. i think im gonna invest in a different gauge though, one more applicably scaled, say 100-210 or something instead of 140-320 that came i assume should be able to take all applications. usually on the highway it hovers about 147 or soemthing like that but it will get up there for a while if i get on the highway after quite a bit of city and the highspeeds will eventually cool it back down.

why get another gauge with a lower range? the other day in traffic and 96* i seen 210*. thus my reasoning for adding a tranny cooling fan. i would keep the guage you got now since its open to more of a reading
