Default which 9.5 14 bolt?

ok, say a person didn't want to spend $1200 on a bolt in 14 bolt for a tahoe, which 9.5" from a truck would be the same width? are the regular truck 14 bolts the same width?

my 149 is about shot and i want to go to a selectable case. but my 8.6" breaks when i run 2wd. it seems people want a premium for the sub 9.5" rears.

Good question,

i just bought a nice 04' 2500 Van w/LQ4-80E-14 bolt rear, and was wondering

if it would swap in my 2000 with minimal effort ( ie: narrowing) . Fabbing brackets is no big deal. Gonna have to break out the tape measure.

I know the van ones are wider. But I wasn't sure on the truck ones. I figure they would have to be.

Sorry to thread jack but on a 2012 Silverado with drums and 6 lug 10 bolt, what 14 bolt would be as close to a direct bolt-in as possible for me? Would I need driveshaft shortening? What about spring shackles or u-bolts? Been doing some digging and know my 10 bolt will only hold a little power before it pukes.

The 8.6 with a trutrac will take a load of power. As long as your not running huge tall tires. But any truck 14 bolt 9.5 should bolt right in. If you get one with disc you may have to change up the brake lines to work. It seems like most guys just leave in the stock ds. I could be wrong though.

I thought all the Tahoes were 4-link? Are you gonna weld the 4 link brackets on?

What about the Avalanches? I thought they were 14bolt/4 link?

The some new model SUVs have the 14 bolt in them but they want 1200+ for them. The avy is leaf when it has the 14 bolt and 4 link has 8.6. If I could get the truck 14 bolt for $500 I could use my links and weld them on. Or even make adjustable sections to maybe add some anti squat for a better 2wd launch.

I was kinda hoping that it would be that easy. I'm looking for 500-600whp later with a Noribilt or similar FM turbo.
