Default 80E what broke?

This is the 80E that had heat issues since installed. Tested the TC stall speed with trans brake, released the brake at full throttle with no boost(blower belt was not installed), not even a tire chirp, got rolling and manually upshifted to second gear. Second hit very hard and the trans began making an ugly ratcheting-type noise. Also, no matter what gear I manually put it in, it was always in second, except 1st....that just completed locked up the trans.

There was a fair amount of fresh clutch dust in the pan after this drive but no metal.

What broke?

I am guessing now that the PCM activated the trans brake right at the point I upshifted and let up on the throttle. Apparently, the forced upshift from manual hold 1st cannot be disabled in the tune for the 2003+ PCMs. Modifying the existing tables that reference this upshift with EFILive or HPT has no effect. So anytime TPS goes under 55%, at over 23 mph, in D1, the PCM will command 2nd which will activate this trans brake =

HPT has just recently added a table for the older PCMs that should work for those.

The 2nd gear only thing may have been trans limp mode. Activating the t-brake switch triggers a DTC that needs to be disabled.
