80e swap, is 2500 ds the right length?
#1
I'm switching my ecsb from a 4wd 60e to a 2wd 80e. Would the driveshaft from a 2500 ecsb 2wd be the right length? I've heard that there are different rear end yokes between the 10 and 14 bolts so I'm prepared to replace the yoke on my 10 bolt. Will the crossmember bolt in or does the carrier bearing attach to an existing crossmember? Is this a decent solution?

The 60E slip yoke won't fit to my knowledge. For the rear you'll either have to use the conversion U joint ot swap to a 1350 yoke. I've also thought about the 2500 driveshaft. I'm 2WD ECSB too. The length of the 10B vs 14B would probably be the next hurdle. Either way I think one end or the other will have to be cut to length.I'd leave the back section as is and make the front fit the trans with the proper slip yoke/U joint and call it a day.
You could probably use a junkyard 2WD Escalade/Avalanche driveshaft as a starting point. Any competent driveshaft shop should be able to take care of that no problem.

For a 2wd ECSB and 2 piece steel stock driveshaft, Neapco N3R-3-9161X yoke and Precision Premium #534G or Precision super strength #235 U joint is a direct bolt up to the 4l80e and stock driveshaft. That is what I will be doing on mine.

all you have to do is change out the slip yoke to an 80e yoke. Make sure its not a TH400 yoke, its the same size, it just needs to have the grooves inset otherwise it wont slip on far enough to fit in to the pinion carrier. No shortening or anything is necessary
