Default 80e questions

ok first off let me say ive tried doing multiple searches and havent been able to find the info im after, even though i know its on the site somewhere.

i jsut picked up a 80e gettin ready to do the swap

what is the differnces between doing the relay mod vs. a acutual segment swap?

pros vs cons?

ive got a 2001 sierra 5.3/60e 4wd combo currently, i know i need to swap the tcase input shaft , can any one point in the direction of a part number or even better a direct link to buy?

thanks for any/all help on this

Your basic difference is being able to keep the torque converter locked on Decel..

The stock 60E tune does this for Decel Fuel Cutoff..
Stock 80E tune just unlocks the TCC under about 5% throttle for some reason.

Well, if you're tuned with Hp Tuner's latest beta version of the software you can keep the converter locked. If you're using EFILive, then slap in a relay.

Nelson did use HPT so I imagine he still does. The latest beta allows you to control it.

You'll want the 4l80E-HD2 kit. I think the different models are small changes Transgo has made throughout the years. I just bought one recently from Summit and what came was a 4l80E-HD2-D.
