Also, I don't think you need the actual shifter cable, just the new bracket because the mount holes on the 80E are different IIRC.
I was going to order thr crossmember from Speed enginering lets see if I can get a pic of it.

Looks like you have the same one as dmc_racer, doesn't look to hard to just cut and weld in a few pieces like he has.

yeah..local welder man. It costs a TON less and you won't have any worry's at night if and when the right one ships.

Man I am drawing a total blank on who I could get to fab this up and it would be so much more convenient to have it there ready to go in its bad enough with me getting one of denny's drive shafts and will have to wait for that. doesnt gm have another crossmember that will work that I could get from the junk yard or something.

I used a cross member from a 2500HD same year as my truck. Because I switched to 2wd I had to drill some holes in the frame and I trapped and welded in the nuts, but you could do it without the welding. I did cut off the stock brackets.

BTW, I did need a new cable for mine -- but maybe because I dropped the AWD and switched to 2wd?

I also had to modify the bracket (which made me curse... alot).
