70mph @ 3500rpms??

Just to add my 2 cents. I was throwing that same code on mine, and at the time the converter was actually coming apart. Similar problems, dropped the pan and noticed a very shiny metallic filled oil. Dropped the tranny and the converter was smoked. Not saying yours has done this, but that's what happened to mine. And it was my TCI converter, not my Yank.

It was a long drive, atleast 55 miles... so it shoulda been warmed up by the time i got there... but it was still doing it even a mile from the garage. I think its not shifting into overdrive is the problem
Thanks for all the responses

Sounds like it's definitely in 3rd gear..lockup is good for a few hundred RPM, not a few thousand lol.

Sounds like the converter wasn't locking up......Do you have a trans. temp gauge? How hot did it get? not shifting into overdrive is only good for a couple hundred rpm so 3500 at 70mph is high.
I run a PI 4k converter and it locks at about 40mph and it runs at 6350 rpms at 70mph w/410's on 28" tires.

Curious to know why you saw the high rpms though. Good luck!
