When a road race turbo car is in a corner, the driver must keep his foot stuffed in the gas to keep the turbo spooled even while braking.

On the starting line, if you rev the engine up to like 5000-6000 rpm and just before you leave, bring the rpms back down to you launch rpm of 3000 rpm, the turbo will still be spinning fast and the moment you dump the clutch it will make boost.

if you sit in a manual trans car with a turbo, you can rev the engine to the moon in neutral, it wont make boost. If you sit at high revs waiting for the tree, then when you drop the clutch, that engine will be making boost instantly. their is no turbo lag, turbo lag only occurs when you are waiting for the turbo to spin up, if you are on the line withthe revs up, the turbo is allready spinning at high revs, when you dump the clutch the only waiting is for the intake to pressurize, which doesnt take long with a turbo spinning at 100,000 plus rpm.

the auto cars can sit there in gear against the converter and make boost, this is because the engine is being loaded. Those Supras arent making any boost while they are revving, they do make a heck of a load of boost as soon as the clutch is dropped.

turbos rock

Every car is going to be different on this. My Buick will start making boost by about 5000rpm in neutral when its revved up.
