Default 6L80E tranny now out

I saw an article on the new 6L80E tranny recently. Rag says it should be available now in the Vette and hopefully the truck line for the 2007 models.
Paddle shifters work backwards from the foreigners ( push with thumbs instead of pull with fingers ). If the durability is good it might be a fun project once a few of them are ready for the used market?!?

I hear ya man! That would be awesome in a RCSB! They are in the C6's now. Ive seen an article where this guy has set a record for a stock C6 with the A6!
I cant remember the Gear Ratios but IIRC its close to the T56?

I think you are right, the 5,6 gears are both considered OD. It also solves the 2-3 shift bog plus gets 1st gear in the 3.0+ range which hurts the 80E swap potential.
If the stock C6 can't break things it should hold up well for mild truck applications...

It's amazing how quickly people's attitudes change when it impacts the pocketbook! We are not used to seeing $3 per gallon costs in NM. I got steeled to high prices while traveling in Ireland and Scotland ( they pay over $5/gallon there ). 8 months of someone else paying the fuel costs on small, fuel efficient vehicles made my first truck refill last month a heart stopping event.
Gimme that E85 pump!!!!!!

I agree. I talk to my friend in Argentina and they cant understand how I can afford to drive sucha big heavy truck. They all drive very small "smart cars" because gas prices are similar to that of Europe. IMO it should be this way here and maybe people would support bills that support research for alternative fuels/energy instead of the usual crap we support like WAR. lol

I heard someone talking about a concern over which bands were shared and how it would effect durability durring high HP shifts and such. Anyone know anything about that?

I've heard that the 6L80 is a clutch-to-clutch design, no bands. I remember it because of the comment that it was a first for GMPT.

I work for a dealer and they do not even have a price listed in the system for us yet. I would imagine they are going to be pretty expensive to start out.

Good reading for the public.

Most people have had access to buying one from GM since they were installed in the 06 STS. There are a few vendors with GM R&D units and some who purchased them outright. I remember the core charge was outrageous.
Aftermarket repair manuals (ATSG) have been out since last year but not published due to lack of demand.

The main obstacle will be controlling the tcm since it is internal. There are a few people working on it now. There is hope.
