So I was looking into tools for the 6L80E and seen this pump alignment tool is that really necessary? I do want to add the pressure regulator and boost valve kit in the pump.

 

Yes it is, there is an inexpensive version of it you can get, but pump alignment is critical!!

 

I use a giant worm clamp for pump alignment works absolutely perfect. And the reason I know it works is because I mic the surface before disassembly and after assembly.
