6l80 Sonax zip kit
Has anyone installed this kit? I've go it on my bench and the instructions say to remove the sator pump from the pump cover. ATSG says not to remove this due to critical alignment. How difficult is it to realigne?

Thanks, i wasn't sure. Have you installed this kit before? I'm not real confident about drilling the 1/8 hole. It's seems easy enough but it sure would be good to hear about someone doing it successfully.

Got another one for ya. ATSG says to replace spacer plate in valve body due to gesket is bonded to the plate. My rebuild kit only came with new gaskets for the plate. Do I need to get new plate or just add new gasket on top of old one?

Thanks again. Just saw your thread. I'm also putting all of Sonax's parts in mine, I ordered the welded drums from PATC and sent them back due to bad welds. I'm asking a friend to tig them. I'm driving 7 hours away to Shane Hines FAP tuning after its back together. I have a Circle D 3200 trip disk going back in. I've heard Shane is one of the best tuners for this trans.

Im still debating on which converter to go with in mine. Will never see track and its the family/road trip hauler, so really cant see going much over stock... Thinking maybe 25-2600 stall and letting it ride..... Have a circle d 278mm 3000 stall in the 4l60 in my 99 and its damn near perfect, especially with the new cam, and im sure once i get it retuned it will be even better! As far as the 6l80 i will probably go with the sonnax zip kit and the sonnax pistons, im still upnin the air about what clutches to go with at this point...

im using the Raybestos stage 1 with kolen steels. As far as this zip kit I'm finding out that it does matter what valve body you have(early or late design). Looks like I have an "early design" in my 2013 6l80?

Did some research there are 4 different valve body designs. I have the third. The kit requires you to replace the separator plate if you have the fist design.
