Are there any marking on the case of the transmission that identifies if it is a 2wd or AWD transmission?

Currently the tail shaft housing is removed from a transmission I was looking to buy.

I need to be able to confirm if it is a 2wd trans and just needs a tail shaft housing or if it is actually a AWD trans and needs a 2wd out put shaft.

Thanks for any help!

I think the output shaft on the trans should give you a good indication of what it is. Post up a pic if you can. I'm sure someone here can help you out.

Here is a picture of the transmission. I believe it is the one in the middle.

I can't, but the second digit in the ID tag should be a C for 2wd or K for 4wd, the first digit is the model year. Just look at the large type on the tag. 2 and 4wd are too close for me to tell by a pic. Or I haven't figured out the trick yet.

That trans looks to be awd or 4wd as the transfer case bolts to the back. If it was a 2wd the tail shaft would be longer and the car transmission has an o ring stop for the bolt in yoke with an all thread bolt system machined to the tailshaft
