Default 60' times 4L65-4L80

for those who have done the swap from the 65 to the 4L80, post up the differences.

Also has anybody changed the 1st gear in the 4L80? if so how did you like it and what did you change it too.
Thanks,
Mark

Best I could manage with the 60 was 2.0x. With the 80e I could pull 1.6x. I don't recall anyone switching 1st gear in the 80. Seems like there was a problem with the pcm and swaping out 1st.

I thought most were having worst 60' times with the 80e
my best with the Radix in the 60 was 1.85
didn't get a chance to take the truck to the track before I had tranny problems but it felt a lot slower for 2 to 3 truck lengths before the turbos kicked in, than you better hold on to your diaper. I read at least one person maybe more have chanced out the first gear to something I thought was called an RV gear, could be wrong

The lower gear loads the turbo better. Most that run slower are the n/a and s/c guys. Once the turbo spools up 1st gear seems to last forever. The right tq conv makes a world of difference also.

I have a tight 2800. I can hit full boost around 3400. Get a 2-step and you can brake stall it and make boost off the line.

60ft with the 80e dropped a tenth. What I really like about the 80e is that it keeps the rpms above 5.2K rpm at wot and the 60e would drop to 4.5K rpm and go up.

Mark,
Have Chuck ship a PI Vig 9.5" 3200 triple disk back with your tranny... and call it a day. It took me a little getting used to but I purposely went to a larger (than normal for stock 5.3) T66 turbo and matched the 3200 stall to it. The T66 with a Vig3200/4L80E spools as fast as the 60-1 stock stall/4L60E I had. And SOTP is most definitely improved. I plan to dyno soon and will post before and after tranny/turbo swaps.
