4x4 and t56?
Hey guys i was wondering about something. Does anyone know if the t56 would bolt up to a transfer case? Cause it would be nice to have the 4x4 launch but the 6spd gas mileage. Just wondering. Let me know if you know anything or know how to make it work.
Thanks

The only ls1 and 6 speed I ever knew of with 4wd was the sonoma built by Lingenfelter. I believe they had it running high 9's or low 10's. I doubt though that they would share the information on how they built it.

The car featured in Summit's catalog is "Quadraduece". When it was originally built, it had a 6 speed. It now has a Rossler built 700R4 / 4L60.
The T56 was never offered in a production 4wd configuration, so the tailshaft you'd need to mount up the transfer case doesn't exist as a production piece. You probably could make one (if you're an expert machinist with all the tools) / have one made by a very competent machine shop (not some fly by night organization). But I don't think it'd be all that cheap. I don't know of anyone currently offering such a thing, but you never know....
The other question would be durability. I don't know how the T56 would hold up to 4wd. I would try to answer the durability question before investing big money into a custom tailshaft setup.

I've done extensive research. If you want power, manual transmission and 4wd you're going to be paying. The best option I have come up with is the zf s6-650 6 speed. They made it in 4x4s. It's rated at like 570lb ft or something like that. However, first gear is a granny gear but you still have 5 after that.

The other problem is that the ZF transmissions suck. I sell them at work. 99% of the time they dont make 80k and they are always cracked when they come in. If a Ford truck stock is doing that, imagine what a real truck....IE Chevy would do to one of them.
