Default 4wd vs AWD front end differences

What are the differences from say a truck with 4wd and one with awd like the SS in regards to the front axle? Obviously the transfer case is different but if you wanted to convert from 4wd to awd would you just need to change the transfer case or are there front end differences?

Just sent a PM to C-WAY, I know he did the conversion on his truck. Hopefully he will post up.

I knew there was a writeup somewhere, just couldnt find it, thanks.

It looks pretty easy then, switch the tcase, longer dshaft, unplug the sensor and you are good to go.
