Default 4wd vs 2wd electrical

What do I need to do when I remove my tccm to keep other things from going haywire such as svc 4wd lights on my cluster? Do I need to have the dealer change things in my bcm? AFAIK the pcm could care less whether my truck is 2wd or 4wd. Am I right to assume this?
