4WD transfer case delete help!!!

Dude, get it done correctly. See pro to at least get it diagnosed. Autozone can read the codes for you. Rednecking it by removing parts is not a good idea for multiple reasons. Some mentioned above.

I'll bet the wear clip has broken, all the fluid is gone and it's something in the transfer case jumping. That's what a couple of my buddies trucks have done. I think it was the shift fork was worn away enough that it let the transfer case disengage enough that it sound like something was happening, but you couldn't tell what.

The problem is a little clip inside the trans breaks and wears a hole in the case causing all the fluid to go bye bye and kill the transfer case. A redesigned clip fixes the issue before it fails.

Stator of oil pump that used to be held very well with sealant at the joint rattles its way through the case on the newer 99 up units with 1 pc rear section. Not a horsepower thing but a mileage/internal vibration issue at the pump. Your tailshaft will be soaked with oil and there will be a very small pinhole if you have this issue. I have a takeout 67,000 mile t-case for a 99 in the mass parts forum if anyone is interested, located in WI.
