Default 4wd 4l60e to 2wd 4l80e ??

Well here is the problem. Have everything mounted up and ready to go(trans going into a 99 1500 4wd that had a 4l60e to 2wd 4l80e). Then we went to attach park neutral switch from his 4l60e to the 4l80e. The shifter shaft on the 4l80 is much shorter and there is no way mount the shift linkage with park neutral switch installed. Has anyone else run into this? I have searched and found no real info on this problem. The trans appears to be a 96 or earlier. Not sure if this makes a difference or not. Is there a different park neutral switch that will plug in or is there a longer shifter shaft for the 4l80e? Any help would be great thanks!

The issue is you have the short linkage shaft. You will need to get one from like a 97 and later unit. Also make sure that your case has bosses to mount the neutral switch. Vince

The bosses to mount the switch are there. The switch itself lines up perfectly with them. I did some more research and found references to the rooster comb not being the same for the longer shaft, any truth to this? Where is a good place to order the longer shaft? Is it a gm only piece? Thanks Vince for the info.

You are correct on the linkage info. The rooster comb is different for the two different length shafts. It is a dealer only part. Good luck with the new trans. Vince
