what do i have to do up front to dump my 4wd? not sure if i am going to do it but just wondering what i need to do. i know i could just leave part of the 1/2 shaft in there but if i want to get rid of the entire 1/2 shafts what do i need to do?. droping it a little would be ok too.
can i just buy a 2wd 2" drop spindle? do i need other parts then like diferent bearings, nut/washer/keeper...?

dont quote me but i beleive all you ahve to do is remove the transfer case, the axles and the diff and youre set. the hubs will still work. they designed these trucks to swap over fairly easy. a 2wd SS is the same exact setup as a Awd ss minus the axles, transfer case and diff. this was my experience with the 06 SS my rear came from

DO NOT RUN 4x4 hubs w/o the bolt and spline part of the cv axle
THATS WHAT HOLDS THE HUB TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!
you can put 2wd spindles right on the 4x4 spindles they are the same bolt pattern and spacing (you might want to fab up a plate to cover the rear of the hub though) the 4x4 spindles are sealed in the rear by the cv and the 2wd's are cast closed for moisture free operation
the upper balljoints are the same but the lowers press in on the 4x4's and bolt in on the 2wd's i do not know if they are the same taper and shank i could find out at work tomorrow if you need to know
i also know the 2wd spindles are alot shorter than the 4x4's so your balljoint angles will be out of whack (probably snap one off pulling the front wheels :p)
