Default 4wd and 2wd 4l80

both trannys are out of a 97 chevy the 4wd tranny is stock and the 2wd tranny is fully built. my question is can u just change the tail stock to make the 2wd a 4wd unit?

The output shaft is different too. Can only switch that by pulling out the internals.

Yep, that's all that needs to be swapped... but it takes starting at the pump and going all the way to the back of the unit. It's not too big a job though. Get a seal kit, take your time and you'll have it done in a few hours!
