Default 4l80e won't shift

A friend of mine just done a 4l80e swap on a 2000 Silverado and the truck has reverse, neutral, first and second gear. It won't shift into third though. He just changed the shift solenoids and it still won't shift into third. Anyone had this problem before or know what the problem could be?

He was in the process of getting it tuned when he found out it wouldn't shift into third. He just put a built 5.3 and the 4l80 in, went to tune it with HP tuners and it wouldn't shift past 2nd. He said he tried to make it shift with the tuner also and couldn't get it to do anything. Does it sound like the tranny is messed up or something electrical?

There is more to a 80e swap then changing the trans. Wiring needs changed around and you have to do a segment swap with tuning software for it to work correctly. Another method is some companies make a harness to fool it basically.

The Frost harness gets you most of the way. Has he removed the codes that Frost instructed?

I will check with him on that tomorrow. He was driving the truck today and said everything felt real good, except he couldn't get past 2nd gear. Thanks for the help guys, its the first 4l80 swap he's done so it could be something simple.

Do you have any idea which codes to disable?
