4l80E Swap, TIPS,TRICKS, SITES????
I think after finding out prices from FLT and a local tranny shop, that i just don't have that kind of money right now. I was looking at Jim Parish's site last night, reading his different pages on what he did to his truck. Driveline wise he had previously had 60E's for tranny's and broke them all. I know now he has a fully built FLT 80E, but he had mentioned that he was tired of breaking his 60's so he did the 80E conversion, he had bought one out of a junkyard with like 50 or 60,000 miles on it, put the transgo, and it survived his application for some time, and he recommends doing that swap and if it worked for his HP then it will surely work for mine, and i am for sure doing a 6.0 swap in the near future, so since the truck is out of comission, i say do it now. I know it will just take some searching on here and PT.net for HOW To's on that swap, but just wanted to let you guys know that this is what i want to do, and F%$# the 60E and the B&M verter. I want the 80E and a Yank 2600 or 3000, do it right or don't do it at all. Any tips on doing this swap, any good sites with step by step, what i need to buy, electrical hookups, Shim, Driveshaft lengths, Crossmember INFO. ANything would be great.

yah i know i saw it. they want $3200 for the whole kit, i'm looking to not quite spend that. Now granted, that's a good deal cause it includes the actual tranny itself. I am looking to get a good tranny out of the junk yard with some lower mileage and just buy a conversion kit that doesn't have the tranny, would anyone have a complete kit for the swap without the tranny?

well what else are you going to do besdies the 6.0? even a wild 6.0 putting out 500-550 hp i think a good 4l65-4l70 could handle it. knock on wood but my 65e is been very nice to me its withstood about 30 passes down the 1/4 mile plus numerous street runs wiht over 600 hp to it and behind an awd transfer case. i know its torque that kills them which i know im putting down a good number too but imo 65e's can be built to handle some decent power.
