^^^^ very well aware of that sir. 150 is a good place. Some will say more others may say less. Running cold is better then running 250

Oh absolutely, ya I have heard the same that 150-160 is ideal for being up to temp and yet cool enough to not shorten clutch life.

i put the tru cool 40k on my 03' 1500hd crew cab 4x4 with 285/75/16 bfg mud terrains and it hardly makes it to 100 degrees around here now even pulling a taller tire. it only runs about 145 or so pulling the car trailer with a 98' trans am on it. seems a bit to cool to me when i drive it and its unloaded but so far so good.......keep on keepin on!! haha

I need a breakdown or a manual on a 4l80e transmission. The auto store transmission book does not cover the 4l80. Where can I get one?

since you have the stock cooler in line...just throw card board over the 40,000 during the winter months.

Here is a direct quote from a GM engineer, who is talking about trans fluid temps while towing.

We allow for up to 285 degrees F in extreme conditions (i.e. towing a trailer with combination loaded at GCWR in Death Valley). But for customer usage anywhere else in the country, even at GCWR, transmission sump temperature should stay well below 270 degrees F. Above this point, certain internal components, such as seals, begin to disintegrate rather quickly. Although newer synthetic fluids can withstand higher temperatures we still recommend this (270F) as a maximum temperature. "

If youve got the radiator in the loop, you should be good. You can always block off the cooler in the winter if you wish. Some of the Tru cools have a thermostat in them.
