Default 4L80E Rebuild

Well I am in the process of pretty much rebuilding my whole truck and there prob isnt one part that I havent touched. The tranny which I thought was fine seems to have all kinds of clutch material at the bottom of the pan and im not about to put the cab back on the frame when the engine and tranny are already laid in then find out the tranny is junk. I hate doing things twice so im yanking it out and im going to rebuild it myself.....trust me If I had the money I would spend it on an FLT level 5 80e. I want so bad to have 6 forward gears and i want some one to figuire out the 6l90e swap for the older trucks but I cant wait....and the new TCI 6x is even more of a kick in the junk cause it would bolt right in...but again biggg money. Sooo this is what im thinking....I already put a transgo hd2 kit in awhile ago.....I want to put TCI's lower 2.97 first and 1.57 gear cause I hate the 2.48 first but I have yet to read about anyone whos done it. I want to update to billet input and mainshafts, billet clutch hub, still researching which clutches to go with, and I have read of other tips and tricks as far as modifying how much surface area pressure is applied to certain clutches.....and something about snap ring mod and torrington bearings. Basically I need some input from the boys who build these things at FLT and I know you guys arent gonna let all your tricks out of the bag and I dont blame you lol. Im also looking to go with a yank 2600hd stall but im still undecided cause I dont know if I want it to stall even that high. Sorry for the long post Im just excited to start collecting parts.

If there is enough in the budget for billet shafts and a $1200 set of planets, then I'm pretty sure you could afford a unit from a sponsor.

I understand what your saying. Mostly I will be buying parts a little at a time (i know i know just save up and buy and FLT) but I like doing things myself and after reading other extensive rebuild threads on here im excited to do mine. I really just need opinions on clutch brands and the TCI low first gear set. Thanks

02, I bought parts here and there and in the end I spent about 3k total in getting my 60e built.
FLT has a level 6 60e for about that much. Give them a ring, I am sure they work with you and an 80e.
