Someone said you can use a front shaft out of a 2500. The 80e is about 1.5" longer if I remember right so rear gets shortened and front gets lengthened. I believe KBRacing used a stock 2500 frotn shaft.

well i may be ok then. my stock t-case (borgwarner) is a little over 1" longer than the SSS t-case i'm using now. and its the front half of the case that makes it shorter so my front shaft my just work too. that would be nice. i'll start some measurements to make sure.

Ya, I had a problem with the shaft I had had built on a trip a couple months ago. I found out that if you go junk yarding, and tell them you need a front shaft for a 3/4-1ton with a 5speed tranny it will be the 1 11/16 or so longer then the 60e tranny setups. I gave 50 bucks for it. Fit was perfect.

He said it was 99-07 3/4-1ton 5-speed tranny I believe. I first told him 01 GMC 3/4ton 4speed thinking with the 6L it would have the 80e in it, and the shaft he got me was to short (same as stock 60e) Said it fit 99-07 1/2, 3/4, 1ton 4 speed trans. I assume that the 5 speed is an Alison his computer said it was only 3/4-1ton, but it fits and that's all that mattered, lol. This is what his fitment software told him, so I'd assume it to be the same at pretty much all junkyards that use computer inventory. Ya, the U-joint was the same, bolted right into my truck.

Don't know about the input gear, but you do need a different trans to tranfercase adapter. The bolt pattern from the 60e to 80e is not the same and the adapter is much thinner for the 80e.
