I have officially fried my 4L60E. Looking for a solid, reputable transmission shop here in the Houston area. I am thinking of taking the truck to Jakes's Performance transmission in northern Texas. Need a transmission to hold up to 750-850 RWHP. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Juan's transmissions, sponsor on houston performance trucks, and there in houston or pasadena is supposed to be good. Jake's of course has the reputation. I had a buddy built mine for buddy price in RGV, South Texas but am so glad after 3 4l65s. Love it. A 4l80 is stout to begin with and can handle up to 600 hp. Superior shift kit is what mine has and is capable and 4l80s with shift kit alone are said to handle up to 1000 hp so dont get suckered. Stalls are expensive but I moved up from vigilante stall to fti 3800 to make up for loss of gearing due to numerically lower first gear. I love the tranny, I love the fti stall and wonder what tool me so long to do it.
Hope this helps. Feel free to pm me with any ?s Good luck with your project, Rob (956) 802-7700.

A stock input shaft won't hold 1000, so don't let a shift kit's advertising fool you. Also other hard parts should be installed by 1000hp.
