Ok, finally got the 4L80 swapped in and only the 3rd day out broke it.

What could this be?

I came off the highway and launched it hard of the next intersection and when the next time I stopped, the trans starts off in second and when the shifter is put into first, the truck does not move at all. It feels like a trans brake and the engine stalls at times.

 

Just had a chance to drive it again, its starts off in 3rd and does shift to 4th. When the torque engages, the trans will sometimes rattle and stalls at times but then the converter would loosen up again. The fluid is smoked bad!!

What do you guys think happened?

damn, this is horrible news! Was the trans stock? shift kit?

 

Definitely sounds like the trans is hurt. As for the TCC chatter, that could be a tuning issue but at this point it is speculation because we do not know the condition of the trans. Feel free to give us a call if you would like for us to build that unit for you. Vince

 

the trans was built, it was a gamble, the trans came out of a 08 tahoe that someone swapped a 427 Z06 motor into, the trans does have really good parts in it and was advertised to only have 1500 miles on it. the trans bad bad out of the box or it was just my luck.

the good thing now is all of the little stuff is done to get the 4L80 in the truck, now its 45 min out and 45 min in.
