Default 4L80E onto 6.0l problem

I am trying to fit an 4L80E from an '05 Savanna van (VIN 1GTGG25V851219946) onto a 6.0l LQ9 from an '04 Silverado SS (VIN 2GCEK19N641318235) and am encountering 2 problems:
~I cannot bring the trans case right against the engine block, there is about an 1/8" space left; the converter is against the flexplate. Should the converter (stock from the Savanna van) go further into the trans, I do not seem to be able to push it any further? Is it a flexplate issue?
~The holes in the flexplate do not line up with the "holes" in the converter, which is not necessarily a surprise.
How do I solve these 2 issues? Can they be solved together with 1 solution (i.e. different flexplate...)?
~ Also, how do I know that there is enough fluid in the converter before I install it?

Thanks for your help, guys!

You will probably need a 4l80e flexplate and maybe a crank spacer.

Sounds like the converter isn't all the way in, pull the tranny back a bit so you can turn the converter by hand and push on it at the same time. Most likely the drive teeth on the converter are not engaged into the pump.

Also, sounds like you need a 4L80 flex plate

You need a new flex plate and the converter takes a full QT of fluid.

Dump everything out and just start over with your fluids.

It really doesn't mater, as long as there is fluid in the TC. Once you start it, the pump will finish filling it to the proper level. Most TC i have filled won't hold a full quart, just as long as you put in as much as it would hold, your fine.

Myself and Wkdivr got 3/4 quart into his converter before installing it, it took a little bit to get it to settle down in but after 3/4 or so that is all it wanted to take.

Try to make sure your convertor is all the way seated in the pump drive in the trans. When we did mine, I spun the convertor, and it went "Click, click," (going in a little farther each click) then, "Clunk!" went all the way in, and seated in the pump drive. Then, when we put the trans in, there was about a 3/16" gap between the flexplate, and convertor. Took a prybar, and moved the convertor up to the flexplate, and it bolted right up. Also, you can't put things together with the convertor tight against the pump, it will eventually burn up.
