4L80E not locking the converter...

Easy test. Get a cheapo generic scan tool and do a DTC wipe while driving. Don't read the codes, just wipe them. I betcha the converter locks back up right away for a while.
It's probably a tune issue, mine had the exact same issue (no lockup, phantom code triggered by certain highway conditions) but was easily corrected.

Winner winner chicken dinner. Picked up a cheap ($40) scan tool, no codes for anything related. (Misfire & P1638) Erased, then drove... converter locked. It only shuffled once on a slight grade. Time to proceed and get full tune to straighten it out once and for all.

Just wanted to update, got the truck street tuned by Jeremy Formatto last night. He said the PO300 code it was throwing was the cause of my converter not wanting to stay locked. Needless to say, after he fixed the tune - everything is spot on.
