ok, i know that this has been posted everywhere but just had one question, just doing research now?

to do the conversion, is the output shaft of the trans changed to fit a AWD t-case or is the input of the AWD t-case changed??

and what company is this shaft from??

The easiest is to change the input of the transfer case. I think to change the output of the tranny is a custom piece. Never researched that route.

Might help a bit.

You can do either one. I'd recommend changing the transfer case input gear so you can have the larger/stronger tranny output shaft.

I think you might be able to get an OEM input gear from a dealer. The 4L80E and 4L60E truck use the same transfer case as far as I know, just with a different input gear. I'm not 100% sure on that though.

im using a NVG149, an AWD t-case, the input gear from the 2500hd t-case would be a manuel/auto shift, i wounder if the input gear would still be the same??

that why i posted this tread cause i really was not sure, i know someone make a output shaft for the 4l80e to work but i would much rather do the input gear swap on the t-case if possible

I'm not sure on this either. There are a few 4l80 SSS trucks on here did they all do a smaller output rather than a new t case input shaft?

my goal is to find a good stocker trans to do the swap and i can do the t-case input shaft swap myself. i want to get everything mocked up, drive shafts ect then latter do a FLT trans. but if the only way is the smaller output shaft then i might as well do the FLT trans right off the bat. besides i like the idea of the larger output shaft for the trans
