Default 4L80E behind a Gen 3 Hemi truck

Ok I found a solution to my tranmission worries. Get rid of the dodge unit because its trash........ I look around here and all you guys are running major power though them and seems to work great, what are your guys thought on this project?

bolt pattern adapter/flexplate, stand alone controller, and what ever else to get it to fit. Not as easy as you might think im sure, even when just talking about the electronics side. Have you checked out sharadon performance and their trannys yet?

Not bashing here but from my research nothing anyone can do to the 545RFE that will last with its weak and poor design, we have something called 2nd prime that usually trashes these trannys quickly, also out 4c and Od/Ud are very small in diameter, I have ready plenty of reviews on sharadon trannys as well as PATC and everyone else, they are equally controlled by the main shitty controller TCM from dodge and they are just a ticking time bomb. On a lighter note I found this

If you go to the bottom you will see a adapter kit for the Gm4l80E $660

yes i know all about 2nd prime, last i heard when i was still reading dodge stuff they were close to tuning it out all together, not sure if that happened or not..?
But unless your making some serious HP i dont see it being worth the hassle imo. I know sharadon has put in alot of R&D in the 545, with machining for extra clutches and other stuff they have gotten it to hold rather well, especially in their personal heavy 4wd truck..
But i wish you the best in whatever you do, i gave up on my 03 and moved to the gm side and couldnt be happier..

Im going to put a nice big turbo on it and shoot for 10s, already built up the engine now I just need to work on this transmission. I have read numerous reviews on everything dodge and tranmission related Im not pleased and i sure dont want to spend a couple grand to learn the hard way. Thanks for the luck I will need it to pull this off ha ha I cant blame you for giving up the 03 either, the first one I bought was a 03 then I learned of all the lack of tuning and such so I sold that and picked up this 04 for playing.

You could always go vacuum modulated for your shifting needs

please explain...... Like a full manual valve body? That would be good with a truck shifter or maybe paddle shifters.

Paddle shifters wouldnt work because a manual valvebody is mechanically controlled. You'd have a floor shifter... As far as vacuum modulation goes, all it does is get rid of the EPC solenoid and control shift pressure by engine vacuum... Lighter throttle, lighter shifts... Harder throttle, harder shifts etc... I had one in my old FLT 4L65e and it worked flawlessy... But I wouldn't recommend it if you're planning on a 10sec turbo setup. You don't want that modulator seeing positive pressure under any circumstance. If you could get an adapter, converter, and controller I think a 4L80E swap behind a hemi would be the way to go since the hemis have relatively good mid range power, the gearing of that trans would lend itself perfectly to that provided the final gear and tire size is right.
