Default 4L80E/4L85E Upgrades???

Here's the deal, noticed some little puffs of white smoke coming from the exhaust this weekend towing the boat home from the river . 3rd gear, 3500 rpm's, 7lbs of boost, pulling the big grade. So it's time to rebuild the motor, it's a 6.0L w/Whipple, 7lbs, LT headers, intake, etc...in a 2500HD 4x4, 6" lift w/ 35's. So I'm gonna build the motor for the blower, 8 to 1, new crank, key the crank to damper, new cams, push rods, pistons, etc....Here's my question....while I have the motor out should I go through the tranny? and if so what should I do to it? I've already got a larger cooler for it but what else? Valve bodies, TC, clutches?? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

How many miles? My understanding is the stock 4L80E is pretty tough to begin with, expecially compared to the 60. Mileage may be the deciding factor. THen again, if you have the $$, you could get a bulletproof 80 like Parish!

THe tranny has 62,000 tough towing miles on it, 30k with the s/c. So far the Tranny shops I have talked with only suggest a shift kit(new valve bodies?) and a large cooler.
I'm shooting for 500hp and 600 ft'lbs at the flywheel with the new motor. What's the Super 4L80E Parish is running? WHo makes it? and do they sell the parts so my local guy can install?

THanks again,
Chris

Yeah FLP does make a strong tranny. If you look on the sponsors on the right and do a search you can check out there website and see what they do. But I am thinking that your 80 should take a beating. Those tranny's a strong.
