I run Walmart brand dex 6. They carry dex 3. I say run, but mean my trans sits unused in a truck that doesn't move. But the fluid is Walmart.

I have always ran the cheap store brand Dex 3 I could find. Usually Oreilly's is about $16/gal.

I want to say a while back there were a few guys running tractor hydraulic fluid with good results. Probably cheaper since you buy it by the 5gal bucket.

I run Redline High Temp ATF since I run a stall converter. There is something to be said for heat resistance when dealing with high hp applications.

The cheap ATF and tractor fluid break down in high stall conditions. Great for stockish setups though.
