Default 4L65 AWD vs 2wd output shaft difference???

I know Ive read about this before but I cant find it now- Is there a difference between the AWD/4wd output shaft and the one that comes on a 2wd truck? Mines a 4L65 but I guess its the same with a 4L60. I know the tailshaft housing is different, obviously, but is the output shaft itself the same length and does it have the same number of splines on it?

I need to put my 4L65E in a 2wd truck so I want to know what I need. I will have the tailshaft housing from the 4L60 in the 2wd truck, but will the output shaft from my AWD 4L65 fit in the slip yoke on the 2wd driveshaft?

No the AWD is too short you would need to disassemble the trans and swap the output shafts

but the 4l65 that has the awd system on it and the 4l60 that has an autotrac t-case behind it have the same output shaft right?

You have to basically tear the whole trans down to change the output shaft...
