4L60E upgrades without shift kit

I searched the forum and the internet and couldn't find a clear answer. My initial plan was to install a Transgo HD2. After reading some of the forums, I am now leaning toward the Sonnax Performance Pack and billet 1-2 and 3-4 servos. The answer I couldn't find is....
Is it possible to use the OE separator plate and drill the holes larger to firm up shifts or do I just run the Sonnax Performance Pack and that's it?
I have read about guys running the Sonnax and TG kits but after pinless servos, a boost valve, and billet servos, I'm $280 into parts and THEN another $75 for the TG shift kit that I wouldn't even use all the parts for. The purpose of this is longevity in a DD avalanche with headers and soon to be a cam and tune.
thanks in advance

I just got done installing the Sonnax performance pack, and it comes with drill bits to drill your OE separator plate. You shouldn't need to combine both the Sonnax and the TransGo kit. You can go to Sonnax's website and look at the instructions for the kit. If you do go with the Sonnax kit use the instructions from their website. The kit I got had instructions from 2013. The online version has several revisions and was more informative.

Hard to say. It feels similar as when I just had the vette servo, but I also installed the stall converter at the same time as the Sonnax kit. The converter really smooths things out. I think is was worth it. The 1-2 is just as firm to me as it was with the servos only. The 2-3 and 3-4 shifts feel firmer though. Not near as sluggish. Lock up is also smooth no shudder. I did not install the TCC limiter that came with the kit. It wasn't necessary for the type of converter I installed.
