I have a 99 GMC with a 5.3 and the 4L60e trans. Truck is 100% stock with 174000 miles on it. Trans has no reverse, and the only code I am getting is a P0751, 1-2 shift solenoid performance. What are the chances that my problem is just a bad solenoid? Thanks for the help

 

The shift solenoids in the trans have no effect on reverse function. If I had to guess you have a clutch pack that is keeping reverse from working. It could be either the the low reverse or the reverse input clutch. You could even have a clutch that is welded together that is used in one of the forward gears. This would bind up the trans when you place the shifter in reverse. Thus your no movement in reverse. Vince

With the miles you got on that 60 I do not see a reason to swap to an 80. I would just have it rebuilt or replace it with a low mile unit and run it.

 

Well I just bought the truck, and my plan is to eventually swap to a turbo 6.0, that's why I figure to swap to the 80 now
