Default 4l60e questions

i bought a built 60e locally, it has a vaccum regulator in it but the electronic regulator is still sitting in the trans to avoid any check engine lights. what is the advantage of the vaccum regulator over the electronic one? i have heard i will not be able to adjust my line pressure through my tune with the vaccum regulator, is this true? if i want to use the electronic regulator instead of the vaccum regulator how difficult will it be for me to switch back to the electronic one? is there any special tools needed to switch them?

i dont want to have to run an unnecessary vaccum line and i would still like to be able to adjust my line pressure through the tune is why i am asking. my truck is fairly stock (see mods in sig) and is n/a, the truck the trans came out of has a turbo which to my understanding was the need for the vaccum regulator, maybe im wrong. can someone please help me? thanks

The vacuum modulator will adjust line pressure based on engine vacuum, which is based on engine load. Most people switch to a vacuum modulators in high hp applications because the electronic pressure control solenoid does some weird things with line pressure, which could burn up some clutches. You don't have to run a vacuum modulator with a turbo. The vacuum modulator comes with a resistor you are suppose to put in place of the pc solenoid to keep the check engine light off. And you will not be able to adjust line pressure via the tune anymore with a vacuum mod. If you want to convert it back, you will have to drop the pan and removed the modulator, plug a hole in the case with epoxy, jb weld, or an 1/8 npt plug. And if the electrical connector was cut off to install the resistor, then you will need to replace the internal harness. It won't be hard to do.

like i mentioned, my truck is mostly stock and i would like to be able to adjust the line pressure with my tune so i think i will put the electronic solenoid back in its place. the wiring wasnt cut, the solenoid is still plugged in but just sitting in the trans to keep the engine light off. i can just leave the nipple in the trans case in case i ever decide to go back to the vaccum regulator right? since the transmission pan shouldnt build up pressure unless something breaks i can just put a cap on the nipple with no problems if im not mistaken....

That will work too. You just have to remove the 1-2 accumulator to remove the modulator, and just install the pc solenoid. You will need the factory clip and bolt to hold the pc solenoid in tho.

You wouldn't have any problems with mine, and if you did I would take care of them.
