Default 4l60e differences?

Can some one explain to me the difference between the 05 and pre 05 model 60e. my truck is an 05 and i was wondering what all years can be used. reason i'm asking is because my casing broke when my drive shaft blew up and i was gone use my valve body and internals in a pre 05 casing that i had but how the valve body bolts up is different and the way the have the seal on the front pump. is there any way to make this work?

What is it with the valve body that is different? I'm not sure I follow you here. You are correct with the way the front pump cover is. You would need to get a different front cover if you go to an earlier case. Otherwise any 04 and later case will work with your current pump. All main cases from 96 to 03 are basically the same and will work for what you are doing. This is providing they are removable bell style. Vince

im no trans expert. My dad was doing the swap for me and he said that my 05 valve body wouldn't bolt up to the earlier cases. he was telling me about a sensor being different. so are all the valve body's interchangeable with different cases?

To the best of my knowledge all valve body castings from 96-08 are all the same. Take some pictures of what you are dealing with here and I will be more than willing to help. The only difference I have seen would be the pressure control solenoid and that can easily be swapped or you could change the harness itself. Vince
