Default 4L60e Cooler line question- fitting size?

I would like to replace the stock aux trans cooler on my 2004 ECSB. However, I want to run the stock cooler lines from the radiator directly into the new cooler- just like the stock setup.

Does anyone know what the thread size is on these lines?

The setup I have on my truck uses the factory cooler lines from the radiator to the oem cooler but I cut some off and solder some new fittings on. Do a search I did a write up on it.

The tranny cooler I am using takes a -10 AN o-ring female plug in the cooler that adapts it to their -6AN male. I am going to get a -10 AN o-ring block off plug for $6 and tap a hole in it to M16x1.5 If you take out the fitting on the stock cooler it will thread into that hole I'm going to tap in the plug.
The 16 mm X 1.5 tap was $9 from an industrial parts place near me.

This may work with some other coolers but if it is a 1/2" NPT the plug method I mentioned above will not work, due to 16mm being too large to make a good fit. You may try a Hydraulics place and have them make you a fitting or get the stock plug welded to the aftermarket fitting.
I will be doing this soon and do a write up and details on parts and stuff.

I have seen to many hose clamped rubber lines on to the cut lines fail.

So the fitting is a M16 x 1.5 thread?

I am planning on using an Earls which I can get with a -8 or -10 hole.

Just went through the same problem. On the fitting that goes in the radiator and connects the tranny cooler line. At first I thought it would be metric. If you measure the OD of the threads it is .620 and a 1.5 thread gauge looked good, and the 18 did also. So an M16 1.5 has an OD of .650 and 17 thread per inch. A 5/8 18 is .625 by 18. It screwed in to both fitting, but the M16 was a little looser. I went with the 5/8 18 flare, but I think the M16 would work also sense they are so close to each other.

Both are physically identical on the outside. And without taking it apart its not easy determining it by the transmission.

However, RPO codes to the rescue.

4L60e - M30
4L65e - M32

You are right, the 5/8-18 fits better. The M16X1.5 will work but the 5/8-18 is better, my bad.

Thanks blue 01
