It's a good start but again every buddy has a different idea of what works and what doesn't.

You also have to decide how much you want to spend on these parts as it ads up quickly.

The Sonnax input drum is $400 if some one decided to go that route instead of just the reinforcement kit.

Its a pretty solid list, seems to be what most people are going with these days (lot of parts which are also good, just different manu's)

The parts alone are only part of the equation. I had my 4l60e rebuilt in 2003 with 140,000 miles on the truck, it just went out last week...2014 and 372,000 miles. I paid $1350 for the full rebuild, labor pulling in and out the trans-so I know it wasn't rebuilt with all the top notch stuff. The guy who rebuilt it is also a professor in hydraulics, and has been doing transmissions for the last 20+ years, so he knows his stuff and has the proper tools to build and test the transmissions. I'm having the same builder do my rebuild this time also, I would highly suggest going with someone who has built them before-just my opinion.

I have built a few 60e's and 700r4's, so I am pretty confident I can build a nice trans, do you guys think its worth the money to build my trans up. or just get a FLT stage 4 or 5 trans? (also if I did go with flt, will their stage 5 4l65e/70e bolt right up and plug into my truck?)

ughh I just don't know what to do guys, flt trans or build my own? I just need a trans to hold up to a cammed and bolted L33 maybe 400-500hp.. and some runs down the dragstrip, mudding, off roading, light hauling.. getting beat on.

I would love to take pride in building my own trans, but im worried I would spend more in parts then I can get a flt stage 5 for...

Its usually always cheaper to buy parts and build your own stuff.

Its the little details that specialized builders do that are not known that set them apart from other's

Did you look at the list either here and on the different builder's site??? That will give you an idea of what you need.

It's up to you to shop around for the best prices. If I had to guess I would say $700-$1000 in parts.

I just printed out my list then google searched each one and checked google shopping search, i think it tallied out to right at $700, so add in the rest of the misc stuff and my guess would be right around $900-$1000 in parts

okay sweet that better than I thought. I have not had the time to realy look into the prices, so I was thinking it was gonna be way more than that. would the pro built trans rebuild kits be worth it? or will your guys list of parts build a stronger trans? the only reason I bring up the pro built rebuild kits is because its a "kit", just easier to buy. but is it realy worth it? says it will hold over 600hp. but in the list of parts it has, it dosnt have the 5 pinion planets or a better input shell and all the other goodies that you guys told me to get.
