4l60e,4l65e,4l80e tranmissions? Whats the difference and what would work best in my s10 5.3 swap? Which one will work on a 2000 5.3. The local bone yards cant think outside the box to suggest what might work better.

The 60/65e are indentical externally the main difference being the 65E has 5 pinion planets.
The 80E is quite largeand heavy From my experince with s10 trucks its tight under there, I would go with the 60/65e but if you gonna get one from a salvage yard for a performance truck "good luck with that"

Nope they swap right out 1 for 1 perhaps your confusing like alotta people do that the bolt on bell unit is a 60 e and the non bolt on is not and they do have different pumps but the bolt on 60eand 65e ls1 aplications are the same, The is a bolt on bell lt-1 aplication also its different pertaining to the input shaft and pump stator.

So either the 60 or the 65 should work fin for me. What trans comes in the 07 and newer truck? Our shop truck has an auto with the manual shift option and it has 6 speeds. What trans are these trucks running?
