4l60e from 2 wheel drive to be swaped for 4l80e from 4x4 tailshaft questions
#1
Hey guys I'm doing a motor and trans swap in my 2 wheel drive 03 silverado. it has a v6 with a 4l60e and I'm swaping in out with a v8 6.0 with a 4l80e out of a 4x4 2500HD. since I'm not using the transfer case I will need a tail shaft. my question. is the tail shaft on the 4l60e removable and can I put it on the 4l80e with no problems. all info is apreciated. Thanks

You will have to install a 2wd output shaft in the 80e and also get an 80e tail housing for it. There is a lube orfice that will have to be installed in the back of the case. You will have to first remove a freeze plug that is in the case and then install this other seal/orfice to lube the extension housing bushing. Might as well freshen the unit up while its all apart.
