If you figure about $500 for the gears, fluid and install kits that leaves about $700 for labor. Sounds about right. You could save some money and do it yourself though. A dial indicator with magnetic base will cost you about $40 and you can get a pinion depth tool for about $120. Other than that all you need is a torque wrench and common hand tools, although an impact would help. Its a good amount of work, but nothing terribly difficult.

Sounds about right to me. I wouldn't just jump into doing a gear swap by yourself. Sure in theory its not really that hard, but if you want it done right and not have gears that howl it's best to have someone who know what they are doing take care of the install. I would imagine dealing with the front gears is no picnic either.

I replied to you in your other post. $1200 sounds about right for front and rear.

gears isn't somthing you should try to tackle on your own without help. Like said above, it is easy "in theory" but you also need the right tools. It's really easy to blow your gears if you did the install incorrectly and once that happens you have to tear everything down again and it'll cost you more in the end.

Don't ask me how i know

I think it's a rip off if you ask me....what's so special about 4.88's? because I paid $600 parts and labor for 4.10's and life time warranty in my 05 avalanche
