something like that. Keep RPMs as low as needed, no WOT, no racing, etc...

I babied the gears in my old truck for almost 1k miles. They were as quiet as OEM.

mods compliment each other. just like a converter is needed to get the most out of a cam swap. that much gear likes to rev. cam swap is $1000, well worth money. trust me you wouldn't be dissappointed. some good tuning is needed also it sounds like. change shift points etc.
noisy gears aren't always bad. gear pattern changes from cruise to wot. pinion gear climbs and tries to pull itself into the ring gear under full throttle, changing tooth contact. its best to have centered tooth pattern under power, when the most stress is on the gears. this setup will have noise at cruise and coast. most trucks are dd so noise is an issue. sorry if that was confusing. had a mud truck (600hp bb) going thru gears as often as a tank of gas. they were quiet as stock. found a great gear guy, who set them up this way (very noisy at cruise) never broke another gear.

temps and hum. will effect your times. cam, pushrods, springs, gaskets, fluids -$700-$800 plus a good dyno tune. cam swap is easy to do yourself.

is your truck a daily driver? just remember bigger isn't always better. i'd stay under 220/220. thunder racing and comp both have nice cams. i love my lunati, it pulls hard to 6600 rpm. you might want some lt headers also, if you don't already have some. you should be able to get high 13's in the 1/4.
